Training

All training is delivered by Margaret Hanson who has delivered training courses on a range of ergonomics issues in many different industries. All courses are conducted in an interactive style, with delegates encouraged to ask questions, take part in discussions, and participate in practical sessions. Full course materials and certificates of attendance are provided. We encourage participation by having a maximum of 12 delegates per course. Courses can be tailored to your specific needs, and we are happy to discuss this with you.

DSE workstation assessors’ training

assessIn this one day course delegates will gain skills and experience in undertaking computer workstation assessments, as required under the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations. The course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF). On successful completion of a short test delegates will receive a certificate from CIEHF.

The course is a mixture both of theory and practical exercises. It includes:

  • Overview of the regulations
  • Health problems associated with DSE use
  • DSE related risk factors
  • Risk reduction, including how to set up and use the workstation
  • Risk assessment
  • Management of the DSE assessments and risk reduction process
  • Management of those with health problems
  • Home-workers, laptop users, hot-desk users.

Both novice and experienced assessors are likely to benefit from the course which will include consideration of keyboard / mouse alternatives. The course will allow delegates to gain confidence in their management of colleagues with common work related health problems, particularly musculoskeletal disorders.

Currently this course is only available in-house; however, please contact us if you are interested in attending a public course.

We also offer a DSE assessors’ refresher course (half day) which will help boost confidence in those who have received full training but may not have applied their skills for a while, or who require some reassurance that they are undertaking assessments in a suitable way.

Bespoke ergonomics courses

We can tailor an ergonomics training course to your particular industry and needs, and would be happy to discuss this with you. We are able to provide training in the following areas:

  • Ergonomic risk assessment
  • Musculoskeletal disorders and upper limb disorders risk assessment and risk reduction
  • Manual handling risk assessment and risk reduction

We ensure that in-house training is appropriate and specific to your requirements, based on discussions with you.
